Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Harrisburg focus on Christ-centered, values based learning. All schools in the Diocese, including St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School, are accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and are members of the National Catholic Education Association.
At St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School, we offer an education that combines faith with academic excellence. We also teach our students to live lives of service within their communities by doing small things with great love every day, just like our namesake, Saint Teresa of Calcutta. Recent service projects have included nurse survival bags for UPMC Hanover Hospital and Letters of Love and Hope for the victims of the December 2021 tornado.
Our preschool curriculum combines instruction in communication and language skills, fine and gross motor skills, early math concepts, socialization and more. Additionally, all students in our full day preschool program receive age appropriate instruction in Religion, Art, Physical Education, Music, Technology and Spanish language. Elementary & Middle School Curriculum
Our elementary and middle school curriculum meets or exceeds the standards set by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. In addition to instruction in the core subjects, our elementary and middle school curriculum includes instruction in Religion, Art, Physical Education, Music, Technology, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite products, and Spanish language. A copy of the Diocese of Harrisburg curriculum can be found here.
Students in grades 4-8 are also provided with a school owned chromebook to use for the school year both in and out of school. By integrating technology into the curriculum, our teachers are able to supplement book learning with hands on, technology based projects. These types of projects teach students to work cooperatively, understand real world give-and-take situations, time management, online etiquette and more. By using chromebooks to supplement and not replace physical books, all types of leaners can be engaged in the classroom.
Our integrated language arts curriculum is actually spread across class periods every day. Not only do our students learn about composition of written words and proofreading, they also focus on printing and cursive at the elementary level, as well as grammar concepts, including a daily grammar practice in our middle school level.

We are blessed to be able to offer additional support to our students who are consistently not hitting benchmarks. St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School has an Instructional Support Team made up of three certified teachers who assist students who may not qualify for services under PA Act 89, including those students who reside in Maryland. Additionally, STC is able to offer speech/language services, counseling services, and remedial math and/or reading services to qualified students who live in Pennsylvania. Currently, these services are provided by staff from the Lincoln Intermediate School Unit 12. Due to the rising need of emotional support services in both the elementary and middle levels, St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School is seeking to add a full-time Guidance Counselor to our staff. This position will be employed by the school and will be able to focus on the issues facing our students, including social skills, social media safety, study habits, prevention/intervention and more. This service will be open to both Pennsylvania and Maryland
