  1.     In pre-Civil War America, what was the name of the landmark dividing the United States into the North and South? The border to which two states?
  2.   How does the climate and geography of the North compare to that of the South?
  3.   How did the farms differ between the two regions?
  4.    What kind of economy existed in the North, and what kind of economy existed in the South?
  5.   What were the main sources (exports/sold) of economy in each region?
  6.   What was the society like in the North compared to the South?
  7.   What transportation existed in the two regions and compare how were they used?
  8.   What were the characteristics of the North? What were the characteristics of the South? How can these characteristics be compared and contrasted?
  9.   What did each region insist on preserving?
