Adverse Childhood Experience and Resiliency Survey
Dear Parent or Guardian:
St. Teresa of Calcutta School, in collaboration with Lincoln Intermediate Unit #12 and our Adams Deanery Schools, are taking part in a brief survey to assess the strengths and needs of our students. The purpose of this survey is to help our staff better understand issues that our students have faced and also identify their areas of resiliency. By participating in this survey, our hope is to help meet the needs and strengthen the resiliency of our students in the most effective manner through improved instructional practices.
The survey will comprise of 20 statements. Ten statements will be related to adverse experiences and ten will be related to resiliency factors. Students will be asked to check statements that apply to events and factors in their lives. Grades 6-8 will be asked to participate. Responses will be collected by the Lincoln Intermediate Unit #12 to help understand trends in the experiences of our students.
Participation in this survey is completely voluntary, but information collected has proved invaluable to prevention planners, mental health workers, and educators in selecting programming to promote healthy youth development. This survey is designed to protect each student’s privacy. It is anonymous and confidential. Students will not put their names on the survey, and no student will ever have their individual responses reported.
The survey will be administered in computer class during the first week of May. It will take about 10 minutes for students to complete. Permission slips were sent home to your child prior to the Easter break which included links to the survey questions.
Thank you for your help in our efforts to understand and meet the needs of our students as well as enhance their capacities for learning. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Crystal Noel at 717-637-3135.
